On March 4th, the Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission and the historic Eureka Theater will again join forces to host their annual celebration for the local community and movie enthusiasts to walk the red carpet. With what has now become an annual tradition in Eureka, the Red Carpet Gala, the Film Commission will recognize a noteworthy year of filmmaking in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties on the biggest night of the year for film, the 90th Academy Awards.
The Gala will include community awards for private and public entities, and individuals that have excelled at being film friendly in our region and accommodating productions in the area. During the past year filmmakers have captured the region’s unique locations, embraced local talent, and energized the local economy with a steady stream of productions in every type of media. Everything from TV shows like, Relative Race and Finding Bigfoot, to the independent feature productions of An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn and She’s in Portland, utilized the Redwood Region’s architecture, mystical forests, and mesmerizing coast.
The Gala will feature an appetizer bar, prizes, champagne and cocktails from the no host bar, a best dressed contest, local Film Friendly awards, and musical entertainment by the RLA Jazz Trio and solo artist Michael Dayvid, all while watching ABC’s live public telecast of the 2018 Academy Awards on the big screen. Doors open at 5 PM on Sunday, March 4th at the historic Eureka Theater located at 612 F Street in Eureka.
Advanced tickets are $25 ($30 at the door) and can be purchased at Brown Paper Tickets at www.2018redcarpet... or in person at Annex 39 Antiques in Eureka.
